Next Generation Innovative Logistics, NGIL, is a VINN Excellence Centre based at Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University.
NGIL has awarded the Innovative Logistics Award 2009 to Port of Helsingborg in collaboration with Inport Intelligent Port Systems AB for the IT solution in handling containers in harbour areas. The system uses GPS positioning and wireless communication to register and track container movements. The movements are published on the internet where customers can follow and track their containers during real time. This technological advancement ad to a cost effective and environmental handling of harbour equipment.
The award was presented to the President of Port of Helsingborg, PO Janson and the President of Inport Intelligent Port Systems, Kent-Ove Moberg during NGIL's annual partner meeting on November 12.
